If you are upgrading or building a custom built computer, you may have to spend some time learning about the different parts of the computer so that you can decide what specifications are right for you. For example, you will have to choose the type of motherboard, the CPU, the RAM, the graphics card and the sound card.
The motherboard is a piece of hardware that holds everything together. The CPU, the memory and all the other cards all go onto the motherboard. Some motherboards come with integrated cards so that you don’t have to install additional cards. This will help save you some time and money and you no longer have to worry about compatibility issues.
Compatibility is a big issue to consider when buying computer parts. If you acquire incompatible parts, your computer may hang or in the worst scenario, your computer may not work at all.
For example, let’s say you are consider buying a new motherboard to upgrade your personal computer. You have all the specifications you want. From the wide range of processors available (Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad, Core 2 Extreme, etc), you know exactly which processor you want. So the next step to take, is to source for a motherboard that is compatible with the processors and cards that you have chosen. Here is a break down of a list of features to look out for when buying a motherboard.
Compatibility.
Consider the MSI P45 diamond motherboard. MSI is one of the leading manufacturers of motherboards. In this model, the motherboard offers dual core and quad core support for processors, and 2 PCI-e slots for other cards. The motherboard supports dual-channel DDR3 RAM technology, and already comes with an integrated sound card and network adapter. So that means you are left with having to decide the type of video card and RAM to buy.
Energy saving.
This is an advanced feature that the MSI P45 diamond motherboard offers. This means that it has the highest level of efficiency compared to motherboards manufactured by its competitors.
Sound system support.
As the MSI motherboard comes complete with an integrated audio card, it is important that the card is good enough to meet your expectations. For instance, you don’t want to end up with an integrated audio card that you can’t change. If you are not satisfied with the performance of the audio card, your only option is to purchase an additional sound card and plug it into one of the PCI-e slots. Fortunately, the MSI motherboard offers a high definition surround sound system that will meet the expectations of even the most demanding customers.
Cooling.
The computer generates a lot of heat when it is running. Therefore, cooling technology is required to help the CPU at a temperature where it can run smoothly without breaking down. MSI motherboard has excelled in this arena. The P45 diamond motherboard comes with a new liquid 2in/2out NB waterblock for enhanced cooling.
The above are some of the most important features to look out for. With the latest cooling technology, you can be assured that your computer will be able to run smoothly with very little chance of hanging.
Take advantage of the most significant architectural change in the x86 architecture in 13 years, the Intel Core i7. The MSI Eclipse SLI introduces a new era for extreme performance. It is an X58-based motherboard that supports Intels new generation extreme performance Core i7 Processors and both SLI and CrossFireX! Six SATA ports with RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 as well as two SAS, or Serial Attached SCSI, ports supporting RAID 0 and 1 give you plenty of storage options and the ability to use hard …

26|Jul|2009 7Instead of MSI being printed on the main board ASUS will be printed on it. Its all a matter of opinion. Generally, go for the main board with better specifications.
